Travel & Tourism

Curriculum Intent

At St Thomas’ Centre we want all pupils to become confident, articulate and curious learners, regardless of their starting point. We want our pupils to be able to appreciate and understand the rapidly changing world around them and to become tolerant and responsible members of their local, national and global community. We believe that Travel and Tourism has the potential to develop the knowledge and skills that allow pupils to succeed at these levels, and our Travel and Tourism curriculum is designed in a way to support and nurture our pupils’ journeys to achieving this.

Our Travel and Tourism vocational course is designed to instil pupils with a genuine sense of excitement and curiosity. It is both relevant and engaging, allowing pupils to explore new ideas through creativity and use of imagination. whilst creating memorable learning experiences. To this end, we ensure that pupils develop a practical approach to Travel and Tourism, by routinely planning and carrying out independent research and real-life experiences. This approach is supported by wider educational opportunities provided in and out of lessons that embrace local, national and global developments or issues. Travel and Tourism enables pupils   to prepare for the wider world and explore a variety of careers.
